News in Brief

WebReports 5.0.1 Released

WebReports IconHot out of the workshop, we're happy to bring you the latest version of WebReports. As well as the usual bug fixes, WebReports 5.0.1 provides a number of new enhancements.

We have added significant new capabilities to support reporting surrounding Records Management. These include new RMINFO, RMCLASS, RSI, and RMTYPE tags. A new PERMACTION sub-tag allows Livelink permissions to be set from within WebReports. Whilst, INHERITRMOFF option allows control over inheritance of RM Classifications during NODEACTION COPY and MOVE operations.

Further information can be found in the Release Notes

WebReports 5.0.1 is available now for download from the support site (login required).

Discover our demos

Another project kicked off in the past couple of months is the re-development of our online demonstration server. The first updates to this were launched last week with an overhaul of the WebReports demonstrations. As we move forwards, our objective is to provide a set of workable demonstrations and examples for you to watch and copy, which illustrate how you might use WebReports and ActiveView within your organisation.

We're now Twittering

Twitter BirdYep, we've caught the bug - you can now follow us on Twitter. If you haven't come across it yet, Twitter is the fastest growing property on the internet right now and can be thought of as the online version of SMS messaging. Yes, there are people on there who post their every stock movement, but I can promise you at Resonate we keep those things to ourselves... Instead we think Twitter is a great way to keep you folk in touch with what we are up to without having to bombard you with hundreds of emails. It's also a great way for you to contact us and other #WebReports or #ActiveView users.

Words form the Nerds

Automated Triggering of WebReports

This issue our resident Nerds take a look at one of the little known new features introduced in WebReports 5.0. Many of you have asked us, "How can I automatically run a WebReport when a user adds or modifies content within our Livelink system?".

To solve exactly these requests, in WebReport 5.0 we introduced a new "WR Trigger" capability. To enable WebReport Triggers, you first need to pay a visit to the Livelink Administration page and enable Trigger events.

Add Trigger

The next step is to select the container or object you want to trigger actions against. In the Properties sub-menu, you will find a new "WR Triggers" option. Select the trigger event, and the WebReport you want to run when the event fires, and you are pretty much done.

To help you out within the WebReport we have created a new [LL_REPTAG_TRIGGERID /] tag which provides you with the Node ID of the object which fired the trigger.

If you want to find out more, we've created you an you a complete example in our new WebReports demo site.

Events

Open Text Content World - 25th-30th Oct '09

WR Trigger AdminWe will be attending the Open Text Content World event in Orlando later in the year. This year's event is a little earlier than usual, running from 25th-30th Oct. For those that are new to WebReports, we will be running a series of training sessions. U-TR-225 covers the WebReports design process, and U-TR-246 looks at some of the more advanced aspects of WebReports development. The full management team will be on-site for the event too, so let us know if you are attending and would like to meet up.

WebReports Training mini-series - on-demand

As some of you may have already seen, we recently ran a short series of webinars covering topics from beginners introductions to advanced WebReports development. For those of you that missed the live sessions, or if you would like to tune in again for a recap you can find the recordings on our Webinars page.
